As the world slowly emerged from the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic, I, like many others, felt a deep longing to explore the world once more. Travel had been a distant dream for so long, but as vaccination rates climbed and restrictions began to ease, I finally embarked on a journey that will be the start of something special.
My first steps into the bustling streets of Bangkok were met with a mix of excitement and trepidation. The city, once teeming with tourists, now had a different vibe. Masks were a ubiquitous sight, and hand sanitizing stations were strategically placed everywhere, a stark reminder of the new normal we all had to adapt to.
I had chosen to stay in a boutique hotel located in the heart of the city, and even though it was not my first time visiting Bangkok, the warmth of the Thai hospitality immediately put me at ease. The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure guests' safety, and it was clear that they had implemented stringent health measures.
What truly made my trip memorable, though, was the people I met along the way. Despite the language barrier, I found connections through shared laughter and smiles. Conversations with fellow travelers and locals alike revealed stories of resilience and hope, reminding me of the strength of the human spirit.
As I left Bangkok, I carried with me not only cherished memories but also a deeper understanding of the world's capacity for change and adaptation. The pandemic had reshaped the way we travel, but it had not diminished the beauty and wonder of the places we explore. Bangkok, with its rich culture, warm hospitality, and unwavering spirit, had shown me that even in challenging times, the world still had much to offer to those who dared to venture out and explore.
I also realised I have stopped writing about my travels and it's time to start again.
So it begins!
